Meet the Doctors:
Dr. Robert Martorano (Optometrist at Courtyard Shops Location):I graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 1985. I moved back to upstate New York to practice, but after a few cold winters I decided to make the move to sunny Florida. I became the Independent Doctor of Optometry inside Eyes of Wellington 20 years ago and have never looked back. I love where I work and live, spending my days outside of the office traveling.
Dr. Lester Eisenberg (Optometrist at Wellington Green Location): After graduating from New York University I went onto study optometry at Pennsylvania College of Optometry. I have been working as an optometrist since 1974 and have been a member of the Eyes of Wellington family since 2013. I am an avid fisherman and spend most of my days off out on my boat. I have been married for 40 years and have four beautiful children.
Courtyard Shops Staff:
Jonathan Popper (Owner): My family has a history of over 100 years in the optical business, I am very proud to say that I am part of the fourth generation from a lineage of Oculists, Optometrists, and Opticians. Making the choice to reside, marry, raise a family and open our first Wellington location back in 1991 was one of the best decisions of my life. Along with my wife, children and co-workers, the past 26 years have been filled with fun, friends and a clientele that feels like family. If I had the choice to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing.
Elisa Weber: It's not every day that you have the chance to do a job that you love. But luckily, I have that every day. I began in the optical field in 2004 and have been full steam ahead ever since. Being third generation in my family to be in the optical profession I take great pride in combining "old school" techniques and quality with new products, technology and style.
Sherri Schaffer: I have been working at Eyes of Wellington for the past 5 years. I started my career in the optical field almost 30 years ago in New York. In 2005 along with my husband and two beautiful children, we made the move to the Sunshine State. Eyes of Wellington has given me the opportunity to dedicate my care and knowledge that I have acquired over the years to every patient that comes through our door. I am a firm believer in having fun and also having self-assurance while picking out the perfect pair of eyeglasses that best suits you, and your lifestyle. I love what I do and I hope it shows!
Elysia Bonilla: Seeing a patient’s smile after giving them the gift of sight is the most rewarding aspect of this job. I have only been working at Eyes of Wellington for 4 months now and within the first couple weeks of working here the staff and patients are what inspired me to continue my education in getting my opticians license. I was born with Esotropia in my left eye, at the age of 4 I was fortunate enough to get surgery to correct it but that didn’t make my sight 20/20. I have worn glasses for as long as I can remember and until I started to work at Eyes of Wellington I never would have thought of it as a career but the positive energy and happiness that my co-workers and our patients spread have made me absolutely sure that this is the right job for me.
Wellington Green Staff:
Ginger Popper (Owner): After growing up in the Keys and graduating University of Miami, Eyes of Wellington seemed like a long way from home. I started my optical career in 2001 and am passionate about finding the right frame with the best lenses for a prescription- specializing in difficult prescriptions and hard to fit eyewear. My favorite thing about my job is getting patients to see the best they possibly can while looking and feeling good as well. When I am not working I enjoy traveling with my family.
Shelby Ballard: I have been working at Eyes of Wellington since October 2012. Through my years working here I have gained extensive knowledge of the optical world, including the latest technologies in lenses as well as the fashion trends of eyewear. I do most of the buying for Eyes of Wellington, working closely with each brand to ensure that we have the latest styles in store. I also recently graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing.
Daniel Rubin: I have lived in South Florida for most of my life, having spent my childhood in New York. My family moved to Wellington in 1999. Prior to joining the Eyes of Wellington team in 2013, I worked in sunglass sales for three years, which granted me a vast knowledge of frames for every lifestyle. In 2014 I decided to take my optical education further and started my opticians’ apprenticeship at Eyes of Wellington. I recently just got my ABO and am currently studying for my optician’s license.
